PICK YOURSELF UP & CARRY ON

    The pigeon finale

Well on Thursday (May 15th) the contractors installed the bird netting. It is great. I paid the $185.00 + 5% GST (Goods & Services Tax) = 194.25 ($195.00) and relaxed with a Cheshire cat smile plastered on my face. ‘I won the war’ albeit a bit battered and bruised, still I won the war. I waited knowing it was only a matter of time before they swooped in cooing and walking across my balcony in either the eastern or western direction where they have nests as they would stealtly ignore my frantics shoos, and shouts (go away!, get out!) as they made their way happily to their nested destination engrossed in deep pigeon conversation . A few other birds swooped by and veered off at the last moment when they realized there is netting.

Then the winged vagabonds flew in attempting a swoop landing so they could walk across to either side of my balcony (my neighbors to the left and right of me). I could see them. They both stood there cooing to each other as if to say ‘What the hell is this shit’. 'Oh no she didn't' they seem to say looking at each other, then at the netting making their cooing songs. I stood observing. They tilted their heads this way and that looking at each other and making sounds as if to figure out just how they can accomplish getting from point A to point B. I stepped out the door unto the balcony and said to them, ‘I am sorry you will have to find another means of getting from here to there, my balcony ledge is no longer your thoroughfare. They looked at me and cooed as if to say ‘Up yours lady’ and being the generous spirit that I am, I smiled and stepped closer saying, ‘you’re welcome’ as they flew away. I cannot tell you what a relief it is. No more sticks, nests, incessant flutter, flutter, flutter, coo, coo, coo. It was money well spent even if it blew my budget. Just one of life’s unexpected demands that one occassionally must rise and attend to.

    Reading - A gift

Blessings all…I trust you are all doing well, if not take each day as it comes and remember that while you may not be able control any of what enters your sphere you can absolutely control what you do about it and how you allow it to impact and influence who you become having live through the experience.

It’s been a while since I have read, not because I couldn’t or because I do not have books to read but because it’s a mood thang. While I am inspired to quench my thirst for knowledge with insatiable bouts of avid curiosity to delve into the architectures of carefully crafted novels, authentic histories, research into future possibilities of this or that, spiritual enlightenment, medical misnomers and the like it is often mood that I allow to dictate and manipulate when I will and will not read. Unless of course I am feeling particularly rebellious to my mood and I engage in the assertion of my WILL and tell my moods to take a flying leap off a tall building. Having asserted my WILL by designating my mood mute and ineffective, I am now reading Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a birthday gift from my brother, it’s going good so far. I got some really great stuff on my birthday so now am basking…

    Love is More Than Words

Love means nothing if everything said and done negates that which one professes to love.

Love is more than good intentions

    It is more than words

Love is action, words & deeds

It is gloriously uplifting not maliciously dispiriting

The Saga of the Pigeons Continues..

Well I have investigated the cost of bird netting and it will cost me roughly $200.00 with taxes. Now my biggest challenge is scheduling the contractors to come in. I would like to get it done this week. Normally there would be no problem getting time off work but this week represents a challenge as I will be holding down the forth alone but I'll work something out Parent'nbecause Lord knows another bout of shooing, jumping up and down shouting GO AWAY! GO AWAY! while waving frantically and banging like a bloody mad woman on the glass sliding doors is a bit too much for even for me, heaven's am starting to annoy myself. I mean sometimes I want to turn and slap myself and say...shut up!

As for my arm, the long scratches have healed but not without leaving long railroad like marks, hopefully that will fade in time. The elbow hurts like hell though and I am experiencing more pain now than when I originally took the graceless swan dive into the concrete. The only way I seem to get any relief is when I crack it. My wrist for the most part is ok it hurts just a bit and the pain in the derriere has faded somewhat.

So this week my challenge is to schedule the contractor to come in and put up the netting, once that's done I'll be pigeon free, at least of their bodies and nesting as for the poop well unless my neighbor above me gets proactive and take some precautionary measures I will have to content with the periodic poop splatter....have mercy!!! What a compromise eh!
